The Southeast Alberta Inclusive Employer Recognition Program is a locally driven, no-cost toolkit and recognition program that helps employers build more inclusive, welcoming workplaces where everyone feels valued and able to do their best work.
Building workplaces where everyone can thrive.
How It Works
The Southeast Alberta Workplace Inclusion Charter (WIC) supports employers to take practical, measurable steps toward inclusion. Employers use the Charter as a roadmap to strengthen hiring, onboarding, and day-to-day workplace culture so that employees feel a sense of belonging, a desire to stay, and are more productive.
This program is:
Locally driven – created with Southeast Alberta employers in mind.
No cost – free to join and participate.
Recognition-based – celebrating employers who follow through on their commitments.
The process is simple and flexible so employers of all sizes can participate:
1. Select Best Practices
The Charter outlines a list of inclusive workplace practices in areas like hiring, onboarding, and everyday workplace culture. Employers choose the best practices that make sense for their workplace and context. These practices are designed to help build an environment where employees feel they belong, want to stay, and can be more productive.
2. Implement & Track
Employers sign the Workplace Inclusion Charter Declaration and pledge to put their selected best practices in place within 6–12 months. During this period, they take meaningful action, track their progress, and engage staff along the way.
3. Receive Recognition
Employers who effectively implement their commitments are recognized annually as Workplace Inclusion Champions at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold level.
Why Participate?
Inclusive workplaces are not only socially responsible—they’re also a strategic advantage that supports profitability, innovation, reputation, and long-term sustainability.
By joining the Charter, employers can benefit from:
Increased Awareness
Build a deeper understanding of your employees’ diverse needs and support them in meaningful ways, leading to higher satisfaction and stronger productivity.
Enhanced Reputation
Inclusive employers gain a positive reputation that attracts skilled candidates, while saving time and resources on recruitment and onboarding.
